The SD PWC Club is a *very* informal group of people who LOVE riding their PWC and like to meet other people who love PWC riding also. I started the club because the American Watercraft Association asked me to grow an AWA presence in San Diego, one of the nations largest cities of PWC enthusiasts with no AWA club.
The AWA promotes safe riding, teaching PWC owners the rules of the launch ramp & water, and giving PWC owners a good name, instead of the bad name associated with PWC owners who spend 30 minutes on the launch ramp preparing their skis, zigging & zagging all over the water in front of power boats & sail boats, and getting pulled over by the police for all to see.
I have been riding PWC since 1977, am 56 years old and have ridden ALL kinds of PWC in my 30 years of Riding. I have seen what PWC's should & should not do on public waterways. My club does rides on San Diego Bay, usually on Sundays, usually in the morning or late afternoon because of water & crowd conditions. We do weekend trips to the Colorado River, usually to Yuma because it's only 3 hours away, sometimes to Havasu & Parker on long weekends.
The only requirements to be a member of the SD PWC Club is have a PWC and to join the AWA and be covered by it's group liability insurance policy on our rides & events. There is NO other cost or obligation involved. AWA membership is a $24 per year pledge that you will fight the people who would take away our favorite past-time from major waterways across the Nation, but it also gives you discounts with many companies, the monthly issue of Ride magazine, the AWA's magazine for PWC enthusiasts, and liability insurance for all AWA sponsored rides & events.
Being a member of the SD PWC Club only means you will receive weekly Ride Invites from me announcing rides, barbecues or trips that are planned for the club. There is NO obligation to attend any club function, but we would LOVE for you attend all of them.
My wife is a 46 yr old chiropractor that used to race standups, and still will not ride a runabout, and my daughter is 17 and LOVES to ride her Honda 2005 R12X Turbo on San Diego Bay & the river.
I have the AWA membership forms if you decide to join.
Hope to hear from you soon, and spread the word about my club to your PWC friends !!
